We finally have actual commercial binders available. They are kept in the cabinets of T3. We chose a pretty much idiot-proof device, the SAM Splint II. Instructions are on the binder itself. If you are over the greater trochanters (not the pelvic wings), it is tough to get wrong. See this video for more elaborate instructions:
Bind suspected or proven open book pelvic fractures. Consider binding any peri-arrest blunt trauma patient.
The thought is that these devices will be washed by EMS and reused (??), so don’t throw them away, but instead return to EMS after use.
